Hunting Horses

At Crockett Ranch & Kennels, we strive to offer the finest bred and trained horses possible. Particular attention is given to horses that are selected for upland hunting, field trial competition, and the training and handling of sporting dogs. Great care is taken to select smoothly gaited horses with the correct disposition and athletic ability required of a hunting horse.

These horses then undergo a rigorous training regimen. When completed, in addition to the usual handling characteristics of a polished saddle and pleasure horse, these horses will ground tie and neck tie/picket line consistently, will trailer and travel with ease often under very spartan conditions, are desensitized to active working dogs, will handle ropes and checkcord work sometimes better than a "roping" horse, and of course are desensitized to the gun. Our hunting horse stock truly is in a class by itself.
